Disadvantages of Vacuum Drying Machine
Although vacuum dryers have significant advantages such as low-temperature drying and preventing material oxidation and deterioration, they also have some obvious disadvantages and limitations in practical applications.
1. High investment and operating costs
Vacuum drying requires complex vacuum systems (such as vacuum pumps, condensers, etc.) and automated control systems, resulting in high initial investment costs for the equipment. In addition, the operating costs of the equipment are also high. Vacuum pumps require regular maintenance and replacement, and the energy consumption for maintaining a vacuum environment is usually high. Long term operation will accumulate high operating costs.
2. Production efficiency and capacity are limited
Compared to some continuous drying methods, traditional vacuum drying equipment has relatively low production efficiency, and the amount of material (capacity) that can be dried in a single operation is often limited. For large-scale production and high-throughput applications, multiple devices may be required, which further increases costs and complexity.
3. Complex operation and high technical requirements
The vacuum drying process requires precise control of multiple parameters such as pressure, temperature curve, heating rate, and drying time to achieve the best drying effect. This complexity requires operators to have a high level of technical proficiency and rich experience, which increases the difficulty of personnel training and management.
4. There is a risk of vacuum leakage and maintenance difficulties
Vacuum dryers rely on tight vacuum seals to maintain a low-pressure environment. If there is "emptying" or aging damage to seals (such as sealing rings, pipeline connections), it will cause a decrease in vacuum degree, which not only affects the drying quality, but may also damage the vacuum system due to the impact of positive and negative airflow. Detecting and repairing vacuum leaks usually takes a long time and requires specialized equipment.
5. Not applicable to all materials
Although vacuum drying is suitable for heat sensitive materials, pre-treatment or other drying techniques may be required for materials with large volume, unevenness, or high moisture content. In addition, in low-pressure environments, if the evaporation temperature is too low, the steam pressure inside the material is insufficient, the mass transfer power is weakened, and the drying rate is actually reduced.
6. Limitations of heat transfer and temperature uniformity
Some traditional external heating vacuum drying ovens have high thermal inertia and slow heating; And due to the main reliance on radiation heat transfer from the box wall, it is easy to cause uneven heating of materials (such as cold in the middle and hot around), resulting in "cold spots".
